Ninja AF500 vs AF400UK: Which Family Air Fryer Fits?

Choosing between the Ninja Foodi FlexDrawer AF500 and Ninja Foodi MAX Dual Zone AF400UK comes down to how dinner fits inside the appliance. Both are substantial family air fryers, and ElectroPlanet currently lists each at PKR 125,000. The AF500 offers a convertible cooking space; the AF400UK gives you two permanently separate drawers. At the same listed price, drawer design matters more than a small difference in total capacity.

One flexible drawer or two separate baskets?

The AF500 has a 10.4-litre drawer with a removable divider. Installed, the divider creates two 5.2-litre zones; removed, it opens the full-width MegaZone. That makes it useful when your menu alternates between two dishes and one wider tray-style meal. Think kebabs with vegetables one evening and a larger roasting dish another, provided the dish and loading follow the supplied instructions.

The AF400UK divides its 9.5-litre capacity between two 4.75-litre drawers. Each can be pulled out separately, which is convenient when fries need shaking while the other food continues cooking. You cannot remove the middle of the appliance to make one wide cavity. Choose it because you prefer independent baskets, rather than expecting its total litre rating to accommodate a single large dish.

Meal coordination is a shared strength

Both models support SYNC and MATCH. SYNC coordinates different settings so two foods finish together; MATCH copies settings across the zones when you want a larger batch of the same recipe. For a family meal, that can reduce the juggling involved in serving a protein and side together.

The distinction is handling. The FlexDrawer opens as one drawer even when divided, while the AF400UK lets you handle either basket separately. Picture your busiest dinner routine: do you mainly need an uninterrupted cooking area, or easy access to two independent portions? That answer is more useful than simply choosing the larger number.

Seven functions versus six

Both offer Air Fry, Max Crisp, Roast, Bake, Reheat and Dehydrate. The AF500UK documentation adds Prove, intended for dough preparation. This extra programme is relevant if you bake regularly; it should carry little weight if your normal use is chicken, vegetables, frozen snacks and reheating.

Programme names do not guarantee identical results with every load. Leave room for airflow, turn or shake food when instructed and check doneness. A crowded drawer can cook less evenly, so nominal capacity should not become a target you try to fill at every meal.

Practical checks for Pakistani kitchens

Ninja lists 2470W for both documented UK models. Plan for a suitable wall socket and confirm the actual unit’s electrical label and plug. Measure your counter, ventilation clearance and the space needed to withdraw the drawers. Published manufacturer pages show differing exterior measurements across versions, so request measurements of the supplied appliance if space is tight.

Both designs have dishwasher-safe removable cooking parts according to Ninja. The AF500 adds a divider to clean, while its large drawer needs adequate sink or dishwasher space. Two smaller AF400UK drawers may be easier to handle individually. Let parts cool and follow the manual; the powered main body must stay out of water.

There is a model-identification caveat: ElectroPlanet calls its FlexDrawer “AF500”, while the official source specifies AF500UK. The AF400UK store photograph also shows gold trim, whereas the official standard UK listing describes black. The hero follows the store photographs. Confirm the full regional and colour code, included parts and local service coverage. Ninja’s UK/ROI guarantee should not be assumed to apply in Pakistan.

A simple way to decide

Write down three meals you actually repeat, then consider the shape of each ingredient and when you need to check it. If every meal is a main and a side that you shake or turn separately, the AF400UK’s baskets offer a natural workflow. If one of those meals needs a wide dish that cannot fit a divided basket, the AF500’s open drawer may solve a more important problem.

Also consider who will lift and wash the parts. A bigger cooking cavity is useful only when it is comfortable to handle after a meal. Neither model removes the need to plan portions and clean greasy surfaces.

Which should you choose?

Choose the AF500 FlexDrawer if you will use both divided cooking and the full-width MegaZone, or value the additional Prove mode. Choose the AF400UK if most meals involve two separate foods and you prefer removing one basket at a time. Neither is automatically the better buy: at equal listed prices, choose the layout that matches your recipes, handling preferences and counter space.
